Welcome to my blog!

Maybe it's the completely insane political environment or maybe it's that I don't feel social media is working all that great for me, but I've been thinking a lot about how to take back control over my content and connect with people outside of social media so I thought I'd give blogging a try. 

A bit about me and my creative journey...

It was 2016 and I had been working a soul-sucking desk job as a project manager for over 20 years and always dreamed of a creative career instead. Just for fun, I bought a DIY screen-printing kit and gave it a try. I was hooked! From there, I had to figure out what to do with all the fabric I was screen printing so I sewed up some cosmetic pouches for my besties and brought them with me on a girls' weekend.

That same weekend, I researched Etsy shops and started putting a plan together to launch my own shop. It wasn't long after that I sold my goods at my first craft fair. Each new thing I tried made me curious about how I could dive deeper into my creative journey. It was a dream come true!

After about 2-1/2 years of juggling my creative business, my entire team at my day job was laid off. This was also a dream come true, because it meant that I could go forward, full-speed ahead with my own business. Since then, I've opened my own shop in SE Portland and go to work every day in complete amazement that I get to do this. 

Side note: My shop is less than a mile from my house, so my dream of not commuting had also come true).
